Details marked to be published are being finalised and will appear here once confirmed.
In short
- Stataa is a marketplace. Shops list surplus food, you reserve and pay in the app, and you collect it from the shop during the pickup window. We do not deliver.
- The shop sells you the food and is responsible for its safety and quality. Stataa runs the app and takes payments through a licensed payment partner.
- You must be 18 or older to have an account.
- Pay only inside the app. Stataa will never ask for your UPI PIN, OTP, card CVV or password.
- Cancellations and refunds follow our Cancellation & Refund Policy. If something goes wrong, contact support first, then our Grievance Officer.
1. Who we are
Stataa (the website stataa.com and the Stataa apps) is run by to be published, a to be published registered in India (to be published). Registered address: to be published. GSTIN: to be published. FSSAI licence as an e-commerce food business: to be published.
In these terms, "Stataa", "we" and "us" mean to be published. "You" means the person using Stataa.
2. Words we use
- Shop or seller: a food business that we have approved to sell on Stataa.
- Customer: a person who reserves food on Stataa.
- Listing: food a shop offers. A Surprise Bag has contents that vary; the shop states its food category, estimated normal value, veg / non-veg / contains-egg marking and declared allergens. An Item is a specific, named product.
- Pickup window: the time range in which you collect your order.
- Pickup code: the 6-character code shown on your order. The shop enters it in the app to hand the order over.
- Staff: people who work for Stataa as approvers, support agents or administrators.
3. Which documents apply
These terms apply to everyone. Our Privacy Policy, Cancellation & Refund Policy, Food Safety & Surplus Food Disclaimer, Grievance Redressal & Contact, and Scam & Payment Safety pages are part of them. Shops also agree to the Seller Partner Agreement, and staff to the Staff Code of Conduct & Confidentiality. Where one of those documents is more specific about its own topic, it applies.
You accept these terms by ticking the box yourself and continuing. We never tick it for you.
4. Who can use Stataa
- You must be 18 or older and able to make a binding contract under Indian law. We do not offer accounts to anyone under 18, even with a parent's permission (see the Privacy Policy for why). If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it, refund open orders and delete its data, except what the law requires us to keep.
- One person, one account. Use your real name, and a phone number and email address that you control.
- Shops can sell only after we approve them under the Seller Partner Agreement.
- If we have closed your account before, you may not open a new one without our permission.
5. Your account
- Keep your login details and any OTP to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account, unless it happened because of our mistake.
- If you think someone else is using your account, tell us at once through the contact form or support@stataa.com.
- Treat your pickup code like cash. Anyone who shows it can collect your order. Share it only with a person you have asked to collect for you.
6. How Stataa works
- Stataa is an online marketplace. The shop is the seller, and the contract to buy the food is between you and the shop. Stataa is an intermediary under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and a marketplace e-commerce entity under the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020. We do not cook, pack, store, inspect or deliver food.
- Each shop page shows the shop's name, address and map location, its FSSAI licence or registration number, and how to contact it.
- Surplus food is limited and sells out. You only see what is in a Surprise Bag when you collect it.
How listings are ordered
Shops with food you can reserve right now come first. Within that, the nearest shop comes first: from your location if you tap "Near me", otherwise from the centre of Janakpuri. Filters and search only hide shops; they don't reorder them. Nothing else affects the order. Shops cannot pay to appear higher, and ratings, discounts and commission play no part. The full explanation is in How Shops Are Ordered. If this ever changes, we will label such listings clearly and update both pages first.
7. Prices and payment
- Prices are in Indian rupees and include applicable taxes. The price shown before you pay is the total you pay.
- Every listing must be priced at least 30% below the shop's normal price. For a Surprise Bag, this is compared with the estimated normal value the shop states. Shops set their own prices.
- Payments are handled by our payment partner, a payment aggregator authorised by the Reserve Bank of India. Stataa never sees your full card number, UPI PIN or bank password. Available payment methods are shown at checkout. There are no recurring payments and no payment gateway charges added to your price.
- Your payment goes to Stataa through our payment partner. Stataa pays the shop its share, minus Stataa's commission, after you collect (or after a no-show). You never pay anything at the shop's counter.
- Your order is confirmed only when the app shows it as confirmed with a pickup code.
- Pay only inside the app. Never pay a shop, a staff member or anyone else outside the app for a Stataa order. Anyone who asks you to is breaking our rules and may be a scammer. See Scam & Payment Safety.
8. Pickup and fair-use limits
- Show your pickup code at the shop during the pickup window. The shop enters it in the app and hands over your order. Without the code, the shop cannot mark the order as collected.
- Check your food at the counter. If something is clearly wrong, tell the shop and report it in the app.
- To stop hoarding and fraud, we cap how many units you can reserve per listing and how many open reservations you can hold, and we watch for unusual patterns. We may decline or cancel an order that looks like fraud or abuse, with a full refund.
- Food bought on Stataa is for you and your household. Reselling it is not allowed.
9. Cancellations, no-shows and refunds
The Cancellation & Refund Policy has the full rules. In brief: you can cancel for free until 60 minutes before the pickup window starts; a no-show gets no refund; if the shop cancels you get a full refund; food problems must be reported within 24 hours of pickup; and refunds go only to the payment method you paid with.
Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
10. Food safety
The shop is the Food Business Operator, responsible for the safety, hygiene, labelling and FSSAI compliance of its food. We check each shop's FSSAI number and photos before approval, but that is not a food-safety inspection or guarantee. If you have allergies, read the Food Safety & Surplus Food Disclaimer. If you feel unwell after eating, get medical help first, then tell us.
11. What you must not do
You must not upload, post or share anything on Stataa (including listings, photos, messages and reports) that:
- belongs to someone else and you have no right to use;
- is obscene, pornographic or paedophilic, invades someone's privacy (including bodily privacy), harasses anyone because of gender, or is racially or ethnically offensive;
- relates to or encourages money laundering or gambling, or promotes hatred between groups on grounds of religion or caste with the aim of causing violence;
- is harmful to children;
- infringes a patent, trademark, copyright or other rights;
- misleads people about where it came from, or is information you know to be false or misleading;
- pretends to be another person, a shop or Stataa staff;
- threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, its relations with other countries or public order, or encourages any serious crime;
- contains a virus or harmful code; or
- breaks any law.
You also must not:
- create fake or multiple accounts, get around our limits, or hoard or resell food;
- make false reports, use fake photos or file chargebacks to get money you are not owed;
- harass or threaten shop staff, customers or Stataa staff;
- ask anyone for an OTP, PIN or password, or ask for or take payment outside the app;
- run a fake shop or misdescribe food;
- scrape, overload, reverse-engineer or attack Stataa. Good-faith security reports to security@stataa.com are welcome.
12. Photos and other content you upload
You keep ownership of what you upload. You give Stataa a free, non-exclusive licence to store, copy, resize and show it as needed to run Stataa, for example to show shop photos in listings or to review a problem report. We may remove content that breaks these terms. Avoid showing other people's faces in photos.
13. Suspension and closing an account
- You can close your account at any time in the app or through support. Open orders follow the Cancellation & Refund Policy.
- We may warn, limit, suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if we suspect fraud or abuse, if there is a safety risk, or if the law requires it. We will tell you why unless the law or someone's safety prevents it. You can ask the Grievance Officer to review our decision.
- At least once a year we will remind all users of these rules and that we may suspend or close accounts that break them.
14. Our responsibility to you
- We run Stataa with reasonable care and skill, but cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors.
- We are responsible for our own service: the app, payments and refunds as these terms say, and protecting your data. The shop is responsible for the food.
- We are not responsible for losses nobody could reasonably have expected.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything the law does not allow us to limit, including your rights as a consumer.
15. Changes to these terms
Each version of these terms has a number and an effective date. For important changes, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 7 days before they apply and ask you to accept again, unless a law or a safety issue needs a faster change. Changes do not affect orders already placed. If you do not agree, you can close your account.
16. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Indian law. Please contact support first, then the Grievance Officer. Consumers may also go to the National Consumer Helpline or a consumer commission (see Grievance Redressal & Contact), including where they live or work. Subject to that, the courts at New Delhi have jurisdiction.
